Organizer Information

ARTEMIS European Academy is a three-year project (2026–2028) supported by a consortium of ten international organizations within the musical sector and funded by Creative Europe. The project is dedicated to safeguarding, transmitting, and promoting the practice of playing period instruments, while supporting the professional development of young European and neighboring countries’ artists. ARTEMIS organizes high-level training activities across Europe and surrounding regions, integrating musical practice, mentorship, and professional development.

The 2026 Mediterranean Hub is a collaboration among:

  • Orchestre des Champs-Élysées (Paris, France) – a prestigious ensemble specializing in historically informed performance practices.
  • Tunis Higher Institute of Music (Tunis, Tunisia) – a leading institution for advanced musical training in the Mediterranean.
  • ARTE Music Academy (Nicosia, Cyprus) – an academy devoted to nurturing emerging musicians through residencies and workshops.

The program emphasizes artistic excellence, European collaboration, and cultural exchange, offering participants a unique platform to develop skills, gain international exposure, and engage with key figures in classical music.

ARTEMIS European Academy 2026: The Mediterranean in Mozart Opera

This open call invites young singers and pianists to participate in a high-level training program exploring Mozart’s operatic repertoire through historically informed performance practices. The program combines musical residencies, masterclasses, collaborative workshops, and orchestral rehearsals, culminating in public performances in both Cyprus and Tunisia.

For singers, the program includes:

  • A residency in Nicosia, Cyprus (23–28 June 2026)
  • An orchestral academy in Tunis, Tunisia (19–25 October 2026)
  • Repertoire focusing on arias and ensembles from Mozart’s operas, with professional mentoring from international voice teachers such as Jérôme Correas and Sandrine Piau, and collaboration with instrumentalists from the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées.

For pianists, the program focuses on:

  • Solo and collaborative performance of Mozart’s works and late 18th-century repertoire
  • Coaching and masterclasses led by renowned professionals, including Anne Bertin-Hugault
  • Integration into both the singers’ residency in Cyprus and collaborative workshops with instrumentalists

Participants will also receive guidance on career management, professional networks, and transversal skills, including environmental practices, gender equality, and health in the music profession.

Eligibility

  • Young and emerging professional musicians under 40 years old for singers and 35 years old for pianists
  • Currently enrolled students, recent graduates (DEM, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent), or early-career professionals
  • Residents of Western Mediterranean countries for singers: France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, Malta, Croatia, Greece, Cyprus, Tunisia
  • Residents of Mediterranean countries for pianists: France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Malta, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Tunisia
  • Applicants must be available for the full duration of both sessions (for singers) or the Cyprus session (for pianists)

  • Video recording (max 10 minutes):
    • Singers: One Mozart aria + one piece of choice (solo or with accompaniment)
    • Pianists: Mozart Fantasia in C minor, K. 396 or movements 1 & 2 of a Mozart sonata + one late 18th-century work (solo or with collaborator)
  • Academic or professional references (if applicable)
  • Availability confirmation for the full duration of the program sessions

Smartphone or computer recordings are acceptable. Solo performances without accompaniment are allowed.
