Title & Description
ArtPrize Awards & Grants Program
The ArtPrize Awards program is the competitive recognition system at the core of the ArtPrize event. It distributes over $600,000 in total funding to participating artists through a combination of public voting and expert jury selection.
The awards are designed to celebrate artistic excellence across multiple disciplines while engaging both general audiences and professional art critics. During the annual exhibition period in Grand Rapids, thousands of artworks are displayed across the city, and visitors actively vote on their favorite pieces while juries evaluate works of exceptional merit.
The program includes major cash prizes such as the Public Vote Grand Prize and Juried Grand Prize, alongside category-based awards and special recognition grants that highlight underrepresented artists and exceptional venues. The system is structured to balance popular engagement with professional curatorial judgment, reinforcing ArtPrize’s identity as both a public festival and a competitive art platform.
