Short Description

Atelier Josepha brings together nature and art under the central theme of the Baltic Sea. It promotes critical reflection on the historical and current circumstances of the region. The residency stands in a tradition of cultural cooperation and exchange within the area and is inspired by the need to reflect on our mutual environment and shared seas – both as forces of nature and in their increasing vulnerability.

Eligibility

Atelier Josepha invites artists of all disciplines to Ahrenshoop. The call is addressed to solo artists only. Eligible artists (no age limit) must be resident of a country that borders on the Baltic Sea. Residents from other European countries can exceptionally apply as long as they have some close and established connection to the Baltic Sea region.
The artist must agree to photographic and filmic documentation of the residency and works created or performed there. This documentation will be made available to the artist and archived at Atelier Josepha. The artist and Atelier Josepha will both have the right to publish it free of charge for non-profit purposes or within the context of the residency. The residency requires the artists’ ́full-time presence at Atelier Josepha. Visitors are not encouraged and require written approval. Please note that the residency is during the low season.
