Organizer Information

The City of Burien, Washington, administers its Arts & Culture Grants program through its Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services (PaRCS) department, whose mission is to enrich and inspire the Burien community through high-quality recreational, personal, and cultural experiences. In 2025, the Burien City Council created the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Advisory Board (PRCA) by merging the former Burien Arts Commission and Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, giving the combined board a role in advising the City Council on cultural arts programming, funding allocation recommendations for arts and culture services, and municipal art acquisition, alongside its parks and recreation duties.

The Arts & Culture Grants program itself is administered by PaRCS staff, with applications reviewed by the Advisory Board, which forwards funding recommendations to the Burien City Council for final approval — reflecting the city's stated vision of Burien as "a vibrant and creative community, where the residents embrace diversity, celebrate arts and culture, promote vitality, and treasure the environment."
