Title & Description

Chrysalis Award 2026 – Emerging Ceramics Artist Award (USA)

The Chrysalis Award 2026 is an annual emerging artist prize presented by JRACraft to support early-career practitioners in contemporary craft in the United States. Each year, the award highlights a different medium, and the 2026 edition focuses on Ceramics, recognizing artists who demonstrate innovation, technical skill, and conceptual depth in material-based practice.

The program is designed to support artists in the formative stage of their careers—specifically those who have completed formal or equivalent training within the past five years. This includes graduates of academic programs as well as artists who have pursued self-directed or alternative forms of artistic education such as residencies or apprenticeships.

The award is intended to identify artists whose work reflects excellence in craft practice, including refined material handling, originality of expression, and strong design coherence. Selected artists are encouraged to expand their practice and visibility within the broader American craft ecosystem.

The recipient of the Chrysalis Award receives financial and professional support, as well as opportunities to engage with the JRACraft community through public programming and events. The award also serves as a platform for critical recognition within the field of contemporary Ceramics and craft innovation.
