CPW (Center for Photography at Woodstock) is a not-for-profit, artist-centred organisation established in 1977 that supports artists working in photography and related media through residencies, exhibitions, workshops, and community engagement. In 2025 CPW opened its newly renovated headquarters in Kingston, NY as a hub for creative practice, presentation, and learning.

2026 CPW Artist-in-Residence (Woodstock AIR)
CPW’s Woodstock AIR program invites photographers and lens-based artists to apply for a fully supported one-month residency designed to provide time, space, and critical support for creative work. The residency emphasises exploration, community building, and the advancement of artistic practice, offering access to studio facilities, equipment, and CPW’s Digital Media Lab in Kingston.

Eligibility
- Open to U.S.-based artists (typically with priority to residents of the U.S.) working in photography or related disciplines.
- CPW encourages applications from BIPOC and ALAANA identifying artists, though all applicants are welcome.
- Applicants may not be enrolled in a full-time degree program at the time of the residency (except for Ph.D. students who are exempt).
- Former residents may not reapply.
Program Benefits & Support
- One-month residency with accommodation and shared studio space in Woodstock, NY.
- $2,000 honorarium and $250 travel stipend.

Application Requirements

- Work Samples: 10–15 digital images (2000px on longest side), or screenshots/links for video work.
- Work Plan Proposal: Brief outline of how you intend to use your residency time (max 300 words).
- Short Bio: Summary of professional art career (max 250–300 words).
- Artist Statement: Describing current projects/process (max 250–300 words).
- Resume/CV: Listing exhibitions, residencies, and related experience.
- Reference Contacts: Emails and phone numbers for two professional references.
- Headshot: For potential use on CPW’s website and Instagram, if accepted.
