Cubitt is an independent charitable organization and artist-led cooperative founded in 1991. It consists of non-profit studios, a renowned gallery, and comprehensive community and education programs. As a cooperative led by practicing artists, Cubitt maintains a unique position between artist-led and institutional models, fostering an environment for experimentation outside traditional commercial constraints.

The Cubitt Curatorial Fellowship 2026-28 (15th Edition).
This unique residency offers a major platform for curatorial development in the UK. The Fellowship provides a pivotal opportunity for an emerging curator to lead a public program for 24 months at the Cubitt Gallery. Fellows draw from Cubitt’s extensive resources—including its archives, partnerships, and artist community—to deliver a program of solo and group exhibitions, commissions, and public events.
The core tasks for the Cubitt Curatorial Fellowship 2026–2028 are:
Programming & Production
- Curate Public Programs: Develop and implement solo/group exhibitions, new commissions, talks, and digital content.
- Manage Administration: Oversee exhibition production, including scheduling, technical installation, and working with artists or galleries.
- Innovate Content: Create varied outputs such as publications, podcasts, and performances.
Fundraising & Finance
- Secure Funding: Proactively research and apply for grants to fund all programmed activities.
- Manage Budgets: Create and strictly adhere to financial plans for specific projects and the overall fellowship.
- Foster Partnerships: Maintain institutional relationships with funding bodies like Arts Council England.
Communication & Outreach
- Write & Promote: Author press releases, essays, and social media content to increase gallery visibility.
- Develop Audiences: Lead tours and outreach initiatives to engage a wider range of visitors.
- Act as Ambassador: Represent Cubitt at national and international events to build new professional networks.

Eligibility
- Professional Status: Must be a professional curator out of formal education for at least 24 months.

- Attributes: In-depth knowledge of contemporary art and a commitment to collaborative, civic, and community-focused programming.
Program Benefits and Awards
- Salary: £34,500 pro-rata for 3 days per week.
