Organizer Information

Fubon Art Museum (FAM) is a private museum located within the Fubon Xinyi A25 complex in Taipei's Xinyi District, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano together with Kris Yao Artech, and opened to the public in 2024. The museum grew out of the Fubon Art Foundation, established in 1997 by Dr. Maggie Tsai — CEO of the Foundation and Director of the museum — who spent over two decades running "Very Fun Park," a wall-less art initiative bringing art into public life across the city before the museum itself was built. The building spans roughly 3,000 pings across five stories and houses three main galleries — the Water Gallery, Sun Gallery, and Star Gallery — with public art installations by Jaume Plensa and Susumu Shingu on the surrounding grounds.

The museum positions itself as a bridge between Taiwan's contemporary art scene and the international art community, collaborating with major international institutions — its opening exhibitions included a Rodin and Impressionism show developed with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and later presentations of artists such as Louise Bourgeois. FAM also carries an educational mission, with a particular emphasis on programming for children and young audiences, alongside its research, exhibition, and collection-care activities.

Title & Description

Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art

Fubon Art Museum is seeking a Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art to join its Research and Exhibition teams, reporting to the Museum Director. Candidates are expected to bring demonstrated expertise in modern and contemporary art, with particular strength in postwar American art and global contemporary art practice, combined with hands-on museum operations experience spanning exhibition development, publication work, and collection care.

Additional Details

Fubon Art Museum's building program combines exhibition space with a research and publication mandate, and the Research and Exhibition teams work as a single unit rather than separately siloed departments. The listing does not specify whether the position is full-time, its contract length, or compensation, so candidates should confirm these details directly with the museum's HR contact when applying. The bilingual requirement (excellent Mandarin, good English) reflects the museum's dual role serving local Taiwanese audiences and its position within an international curatorial and exhibition network.
