Konsthall C is a contemporary art institution, urban renewal project, and public artwork located in a former communal laundry in Hökarängen, Stockholm. Founded in 2004, Konsthall C has developed an internationally recognized program of exhibitions and events that engages with contemporary art while responding to local social and political contexts. The institution positions itself as a platform for experimental practices and critical discourse in Northern Europe. Its recent programming has included themes such as The Decolonial Turn and Sacred Spaces. Konsthall C is currently working toward becoming a more equitable, inclusive, and value-driven institution.

Title & Description

Artistic Director — 2027–2029

Konsthall C is seeking a new Artistic Director for a three-year artistic leadership period beginning in April 2027. The successful candidate will develop and lead the institution's artistic program for 2027–2029, incorporating Konsthall C's priorities around social change, inclusion, environmental challenges, cultural funding, and critical approaches to power within the arts.

The institution is looking for a transformative artistic leader capable of combining a strong curatorial vision with practical production, project management, budgeting, and institution-building skills. The submitted artistic proposal will carry significant weight in the selection process.

Position & Tasks

The Artistic Director will establish the direction and themes of Konsthall C's 2027–2029 artistic program; develop exhibitions and interdisciplinary projects; oversee exhibition production; contribute to budgeting and project management; participate in institution-building and organizational development; build and maintain national and international networks; and represent Konsthall C within the contemporary art field. The role also involves fostering a generous, collaborative, socially engaged environment for artists, audiences, and partners.

Eligibility

Applicants should have experience working with contemporary art and/or interdisciplinary artistic practices for a public audience and experience in exhibition production. A degree in art curation, fine art, or equivalent professional experience in the arts and culture sector is required. Strong written and spoken English and/or Swedish skills are required.

Additional strengths include leadership and management experience, cultural administration, project management, finance, networking, collaborative practice, critical perspectives on artistic production and power relations, and the ability to represent an institution nationally and internationally.
