The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation: Index Coordinator Position
Index is seeking a Coordinator to join its team and support the planning, production, and delivery of exhibitions, public programs, and artistic projects. The position offers an opportunity to work within a leading contemporary art institution in Sweden, collaborating with artists, curators, institutions, and external partners. The successful candidate will contribute to the full lifecycle of artistic projects, from initial planning and budgeting to final production and evaluation.
The role is focused on project coordination, exhibition production, grant administration, communication support, and ensuring the smooth execution of Index’s artistic and public activities.

Position & Tasks
The Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of Index and managing exhibition and program production. Main responsibilities include:
- Managing exhibition projects from concept development to completion, including timelines, budgets, and project follow-up.
- Coordinating communication between artists, curators, institutions, and external collaborators.
- Managing practical production processes such as artwork transportation, insurance, loan agreements, and catalogue production.
- Planning and overseeing exhibition openings, public events, and educational programs.
- Supporting grant applications and managing reporting processes for funded projects.
- Assisting with communication activities, including press and media relations.
- Supporting administrative tasks related to project coordination.

Eligibility
The position is open to candidates with relevant professional experience and/or academic backgrounds. Applicants should have:
- A degree in Art History, Curating, Cultural Production, or another relevant field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Documented experience producing exhibitions or artistic projects within an art institution or similar organization.
- Experience managing grants from application through reporting stages.
- Experience in project management with budget responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary art and the international/local art scene.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong digital and IT skills.
- Professional fluency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
Additional qualifications considered beneficial:
- Experience in event production.
- Networks within Swedish or international art institutions.
- Experience with communication, press, and social media.
- Additional language skills.
