Curator Position at Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven
The museum seeks a curator to develop exhibitions and public programs that engage with contemporary global issues, including ecology, citizenship, and evolving perspectives on 20th and 21st-century art. The role emphasizes experimentation, accessibility, and innovative programming, including performance, music, gaming, and live role-playing. The curator will interpret the existing collection as a living resource to create dynamic, socially engaged experiences.Role Overview
- Salary: €3,777 – €5,554 per month (36-hour week, depending on experience)
- Contract Type: One-year contract, with intention to convert to permanent
- Reporting To: Director and senior curatorial team
- Additional Benefits: 28 vacation days per year, ADV days (approx. 10 weeks total leave), Individueel Keuzebudget (IKB), pension contributions (70% employer-funded), full travel reimbursement, fitness allowance up to €240/year
Position & Tasks
- Develop international temporary exhibitions from concept to realization
- Create public programs and support innovative museum approaches
- Advise on acquisitions for the collection and library
- Maintain and expand an international network, including participation in L’Internationale
- Collaborate with internal departments (production, technical, mediation, education, fundraising, marketing)
- Contribute to policy development, project leadership, and co-creation initiatives
