Curatorial Assistant (Hong Kong-Based) – Asia Art Archive

Asia Art Archive is seeking a full-time Curatorial Assistant based in Hong Kong to support the organization’s exhibitions, public programmes, and research initiatives. This position offers an opportunity for emerging arts professionals to work closely with the Curatorial and Research & Archives teams in activating and interpreting the AAA Collections through collaborative programming, institutional partnerships, and curatorial research.

The role is particularly suited for candidates interested in contemporary Asian art, archival practices, exhibition-making, and nonprofit cultural work. The selected candidate will contribute to the planning, development, and realization of exhibitions and public-facing programmes while gaining hands-on experience within one of Asia’s most influential contemporary art organizations.

Position & Tasks

The Curatorial Assistant will support both conceptual and operational aspects of AAA’s artistic programming. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating implementation of exhibitions and public programmes
  • Supporting project management through budgets, timelines, proposals, and reporting
  • Conducting thematic and contextual Research related to AAA Collections
  • Assisting in conceptualising and producing exhibitions and curatorial projects
  • Coordinating with artists, institutions, collaborators, and internal departments
  • Supporting institutional partnerships and collaborative initiatives
  • Maintaining communication with artist-run spaces and cultural organizations
  • Assisting with the interpretation and presentation of archival materials and collections

The role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while working within a collaborative curatorial and archival environment.

Eligibility

  • 1–2 years of professional experience in exhibition planning or arts administration

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
