Organiser Information
Etch is an organisation based in South East London, focused on creating workshops, exhibitions, and publications that are accessible to all.
Our previous project, Beloved Absence, was a highly successful exhibition featuring artists of various mediums exploring ideas of memory, collective memory, tradition, and relationships to space.
Title & Description
Title: Utility
We invite artists to apply to be part of our upcoming publication Utility.
Utility is defined as “the state of being useful, profitable, or beneficial.”
We encourage participants to explore what utility means to them through their artistic practice – whether positive, negative, reactionary, or in direct opposition to the concept of “utility.”
All artistic practices are welcome. Please note that submissions will be presented in a publication format – for example, sculptural works should be submitted as high-quality images.
We will also host a group session at the end of October to explore and discuss the theme of Utility, offering participants a chance to share ideas, gain inspiration, and connect with others involved in the project.
Selected works will be featured in a printed publication, launched at a dedicated event accompanied by a pop-up exhibition in London.
