Title & Description
Galleri Format Window Exhibition Open Call 2026
Galleri Format invites professional artists and photographers to apply for the sixth edition of its Window Exhibition program, taking place in Malmö, Sweden. This open call offers a distinctive opportunity to present work in a highly visible, public-facing format, using the gallery’s large street-facing windows as the exhibition space.
The exhibition will run from June 12 to August 9, 2026, and is specifically designed to engage pedestrians and passersby in the urban environment. Artists are encouraged to develop proposals that are visually compelling and conceptually strong, while also being accessible to audiences encountering the work from the street.
This program challenges artists to rethink exhibition-making by adapting their work to a non-traditional display context. Rather than a conventional gallery experience, selected projects must function independently as public visual interventions, visible at all times—even when the gallery is closed. This creates a unique intersection between contemporary art and public space, where artistic work becomes part of everyday urban life.
Galleri Format particularly welcomes proposals within the fields of photography, video, and film, reflecting its core focus on lens-based media. Artists are encouraged to experiment with scale, visibility, narrative, and audience interaction, considering how their work can communicate effectively through a window display.
The selected artist will benefit from both financial and production support, ensuring that the project can be realized to a professional standard while reaching a broad and diverse audience.
