Brief Description:
The 14th edition of the Solo Dance Contest is an international dance competition held as part of the 17th Gdańsk Dance Festival from September 22–25, 2025 in Gdańsk, Poland. Organized by Klub Żak, the contest invites professional solo dancers worldwide to showcase their performances and compete for monetary prizes awarded by an international jury.

Information and Application Details:

  • Competition Dates: September 22–25, 2025
  • Application Deadline: March 31, 2025 (23:59)
  • Polish Qualifying Rounds: April 26-27, 2025
  • Eligibility: Open to professional dancers (18+) with documented artistic activity or a dance studies diploma.

Theme:

  • No specific theme, but solo performances must be between 5 to 20 minutes long and must have premiered after January 1, 2024.

Submission Requirements:

Selection Process:

  • A pre-selection jury will review applications and select dancers for the main competition.
  • For Polish participants, 10-12 solos will be chosen for qualifying rounds (April 26-27, 2025), from which at least 5 performances will advance to the main competition.
  • The main competition jury, consisting of international dance experts, will evaluate performances and distribute prizes.

Program Benefits / Awards:

  • Total Prize Pool: €6,000
    • Jury Award: €5,500, distributed among 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
    • Audience Award: €500
  • Travel Reimbursement:
    • Up to PLN 400 for participants traveling within Poland.
    • Up to €180 for international participants.
  • Accommodation provided during the competition.
  • Opportunity to perform at Klub Żak as part of the festival.
