Organizer Information
The Getxophoto International Image Festival, held annually in Getxo (Basque Country, Spain), has been bringing together proposals from visual artists worldwide for 20 years. The Festival is defined by its strong defence of public space—both physical and online—as a site of recognition, experimentation, play, and collective celebration. With a program largely composed of outdoor installations, Getxophoto emphasizes the relationship between image and environment while promoting more participatory, horizontal exchanges with the public. The Festival also explores digital culture through online programs that have included interactive websites, live automated processes, podcasts, apps, memes, and more.
