Organizer Information:
ICEHOTEL is located in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, 17 kilometers outside Kiruna. Each winter, the hotel is rebuilt using premium natural ice from the Torne River—one of the last untouched rivers in Europe.
Title & Description:
Applications are now open for the ICEHOTEL 37 International Design Competition.
Artists and designers are invited to submit original concepts for ephemeral art suites made entirely of snow and ice. The actual making of the hotel functions as an international symposium where selected creatives gather for two weeks to build rooms that serve as sensorial experiences. There are no rules for how the suites should look, provided the design is original, fits the physical constraints of the ice, and includes a functional bed. The artworks will eventually melt and return to the river in the spring.
