Jårrh! Artist Residency for Indigenous Choreographers and Movement Artists

Jårrh! is an artist residency designed for Indigenous artists worldwide who work with choreography and movement. Hosted in Dearna (Tärnaby), Sweden, the residency offers a secure Indigenous environment for artistic exploration, collaboration, and engagement with the Sámi cultural landscape. The program runs for 2–4 weeks during late summer or autumn 2025.

Eligibility

  • Open to Indigenous artists or groups working with choreography or movement in diverse forms.
  • Solo or collaborative applications are welcome.
  • Family members may accompany the artist(s) with prior arrangements.

Theme
Artistic exploration of choreography and movement in an Indigenous context, with opportunities to connect with the Sámi culture and local community.

Program Benefits

  • Weekly fee of 12,500 SEK plus VAT.

Submission Requirements

  • Project proposal detailing your artistic idea and its development within an Indigenous context.
  • Application materials submitted in English or Swedish.
  • Group applications must designate a main contact person.

Selection Process

  • Proposals reviewed by a selection group comprising Indigenous artists, Sámi community representatives, and program organizers.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a digital conversation.

Residency period: August 18 – October 31, 2025, for 2–4 weeks.
