La Monnaie de Paris, France’s oldest institution (founded 864), is the national mint responsible for coins, medals and high craftsmanship. Since 2020, it has run the annual Prix de la Monnaie de Paris to support emerging talent in exploring the medal as a contemporary art and design medium.

Le Prix de la Monnaie de Paris 2026
An open call for designers under 40 to propose an innovative medal project. The winner receives full technical support from the mint’s master artisans to develop and produce the medal in its historic Paris workshops, plus a substantial grant and museum presentation. The prize encourages fresh perspectives on the medal’s form, materials and meaning through intensive collaboration with the institution’s engravers and founders.

Eligibility
- Designers (individual or teams of max. 4) up to 40 years old
- Francophone
- Little or no prior experience in coin/medal-making techniques
- Open internationally
- Employees of Monnaie de Paris excluded
Program Benefits & Awards
- 10 000 € cash grant
- Up to 5,000€ production budget
- Up to 4,000 € travel costs
- 8 medals produced (4 kept by the artist, 4 entered the Monnaie de Paris collections)
- 5–10 workshop sessions with artisans in Paris
- Exhibition in the museum + dedicated film + media coverage
- 3 runners-up: 800 € each

Application Requirements
Two PDFs (<20 MB total):
- Administrative file: signed rules + annexes 1–4 + ID copy
- Artistic file: medal project sketch, technical note (max 1500 char.), intention letter (max 4500 char.), CV (max 2 p.), portfolio of 5 past projects
