The Wrocław Institute of Culture is a major municipal cultural institution based in Wrocław, Poland. The Institute organizes and curates long-standing

MagiC Carpets (Creative Europe platform)
MagiC Carpets is a Creative Europe-funded platform uniting cultural organisations across Europe with the goal of supporting emerging artists through international residencies that promote cultural exchange, community engagement, and socially engaged artistic practices. The platform facilitates transnational mobility, encourages collaboration with local communities, and strengthens artistic networks across member institutions.

Open Call: MagiC Carpets International Artistic Residency – Wrocław, Poland (2026)
This is an international artistic residency opportunity offering one emerging artist the chance to conduct a 4-week
research-based project in Wrocław, focusing on dialogue, co-creation, and community engagement, specifically with the local Korean community. The residency emphasizes process-oriented artistic practice rather than finished objects and privileges practices centered on social inquiry, storytelling, and collaborative creation within urban public contexts. Selected artists will work closely with residents to explore themes such as minority visibility, migration, urban memory, and intercultural exchange. Culminating activities include a public presentation of the developed project, along with workshops and community interaction events.

Eligibility
- International artists with experience or a strong interest in socially engaged and research-based art practices.

Program Benefits & Awards
Participating artists receive:
- Artist remuneration: €1,200
- Production budget: up to €1,000 for project development
- Travel reimbursement: up to €1,000 to cover transport costs
- Accommodation: provided in a residential apartment in Wrocław
- Community engagement support (planning and facilitation)
- Public presentation opportunity as part of local cultural programming
