Voyons voir art contemporain et territoire is an association founded in 2007, based in Aix-en-Provence, that supports contemporary artistic practices across the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region through the development of artist residencies, the production of visual works, and mediation activities in rural areas and spaces not traditionally dedicated to art. The association has no fixed venue of its own; instead, it works in partnership with independent sites across the region — companies, workshops, manufacturers, regional museums, and other associations — that agree to host artists in residence, typically working in the context of industrial, architectural, or landscape heritage. Itinerancy is one of the association's founding principles, and its residency, production, and exhibition sites are regularly renewed.
This edition is hosted by the Musée Marc Deydier in Cucuron, housed in an hôtel particulier dating from the early 17th century. Originally the property of the de Bouliers and later the Bouquet family, the building later served as a school and, from 1905, housed various municipal occupants including German prisoners until 1946. Since 1970, it has housed the Musée Marc Deydier under the joint stewardship of the commune and an association, named for Marc Deydier — a notary, geologist, paleontologist, archaeologist, ethnologist, photographer, and journalist who died in 1920, having contributed to the founding of the Société préhistorique de France in 1904.

Résidence de territoire — Musée Marc Deydier, Cucuron — "Au fil de l'eau" (2026-2027)
This is a territory-based artist residency call from voyons voir art contemporain et territoire, hosted at the Musée Marc Deydier in Cucuron. The selected artist, duo, or collective will develop a research and creation project around the museum's new permanent exhibition space "Au fil de l'eau" (Along the Water), which explores a thousand years of water-related heritage in the Cucuron area — from historic flour mills and the town's landmark étang (pond), to fountains, bastide basins, and 19th-century public wash-houses and fountains. The artist is asked to integrate a class of pupils from Cucuron's elementary school into the project, and to involve local cultural actors (cinema, media library, etc.) as far as possible.

"Au fil de l'eau" — a research and creation project engaging with the millennium-long history of water use and water heritage in the commune of Cucuron, tied to the museum's new permanent exhibition space on this theme.

Eligibility

- Applicants must hold "artiste-auteur" status with the Urssaf Limousin, or be able to issue an invoice and hold a SIRET number
- Applicants should demonstrate the coherence of their proposal with their artistic practice
Program Benefits & Awards
- Artist fee (rémunération): €3,000

- Fee for public-facing/educational actions (actions avec le public / rémunération EAC): €1,500

Additional Details
- The selection process has two phases: an initial call in which artists express interest by submitting a portfolio/book, a short statement of intent, and a project sketch; short-listed applicants then present a detailed project with budget and production phases via a written dossier and an individual interview
- Of the residency's 6 weeks, 70% of the time is allocated to research and creation, and 30% to public-facing cultural actions
- Residency projects must foster the cultural inclusion of local residents, with priorities including: enabling residents (notably school audiences) to share sustained encounters with the artist/artistic team; supporting residents' recognition and appropriation of their tangible and intangible heritage and cultural expression; and fostering a shared sensory/artistic experience through cooperation in the creative process
- Application dossier must include: a portfolio with CV; a statement of intent highlighting the candidate's interest in this residency; and proof of status enabling the candidate to issue an invoice
- The residency will be formalized through an agreement between voyons voir, the artist, and the Musée Marc Deydier
- A jury of art professionals and partners meets in October 2026 to select the artist; candidates are informed of results in the days following
