Since its creation, the award has recognized photographers working across a wide range of styles, themes, and visual approaches, helping them realize ambitious long-term projects.

Title & Description

Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière Photography Prize 2026

The Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière Photography Prize 2026 is an international photography project grant designed to support an experienced photographer in the development of an ambitious original photographic project. Unlike traditional photography competitions that reward completed work, this prize functions as a production grant, enabling the selected photographer to create a large-scale body of work over a two-year period.

The program encourages complete artistic freedom regarding subject matter, conceptual framework, visual language, and photographic methodology. Applicants may propose documentary, conceptual, experimental, fine art, landscape, social, environmental, cultural, or interdisciplinary photographic projects, provided they demonstrate originality, artistic quality, and the potential for significant development.

The winning project receives substantial financial support and culminates in a major exhibition at the Pavillon Comtesse de Caen within the Institut de France in Paris. The prize therefore offers both production funding and a prestigious public presentation platform.

Since becoming a biennial award in 2018, the prize has continued to strengthen its reputation as one of France’s most significant photography grants for established photographers seeking to undertake long-term creative research and production.
