Organizer Information

CICA Museum (Czong Institute for Contemporary Art) is a private museum located in Gimpo, South Korea, started in 1994 at the initiative of sculptor Czong Ho Kim, who built the facilities himself across five buildings of modern architecture. The gallery opened in 2004 and the museum in 2006. Since 2014, CICA Museum has built a network of over 5,000 international artists through active international exhibitions and publications, including projects such as New Media Art, Art Yellow Book, and Artist Statement. The museum describes its mission as countering the one-way flow of contemporary art from established "centers of art," instead aiming to introduce local artists and cultures from different regions to global audiences and connect them with one another. Alongside its exhibition programme, CICA also offers education and public programs for the cultural development of local communities.
