Organizer Information:
Occurrence is a contemporary art center in Montreal featuring two main exhibition rooms. The center strives to present a diverse program that reflects current thinking on the arts.
Title & Description:
Applications are open for Exhibition and Video Projection Programming (Nov 2026 – June 2028).
Occurrence is seeking project proposals covering all horizons. Selected proposals will be presented in one of the center's two rooms as a "Duo" (where the selection committee pairs projects in the same exhibition space), or as a "Solo" exhibition (where the chosen artist adapts their project to fill both rooms).

Eligibility & Focus:
- Who: Open to artists of all ages and all levels of experience.
- Equity & Inclusion: Occurrence strongly encourages artists to self-identify if they are immigrants, members of visible and/or invisible minorities, Indigenous, or have a disability.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Artist Fees: Each exhibition project is remunerated according to the official rates recommended by CARFAC (Canadian Artists' Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens).
Application Requirements:
All files must be combined into a single PDF and named using the following convention: Last name_First name_Occurrence.
The PDF must include:
- Artist Biography (max 100 words).
- Artist Statement (max 250 words).
- Project Description (max 1 page).
- CV / Resume (max 3 pages).
- Portfolio: A maximum of 10 numbered images.
- Video Links (if applicable): Maximum 8 minutes total. (Ensure the link can be accessed at any time without requiring a password or authorization).
- Image List: A detailed descriptive list of your visual documents (title, year of production, materials, etc.).
How to Apply?
Submit your PDF exclusively via Swisstransfer. You must select the "EMAIL" option on the Swisstransfer site and send the file directly to info@occurrence.ca. (Note: Applications failing to meet these exact formatting and submission criteria will not be considered).
