PARSE (Platform for Artistic Research Sweden). PARSE is an online international artistic research publishing platform based in The Artistic Faculty at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. It publishes open-access research and organizes events that facilitate dialogue, publication, and open peer review.

Title & Description:

Applications are open for External Editors for PARSE Journal Issues.

PARSE invites submissions for external editors to propose content for a journal issue (one to be published in Autumn 2027 and one in Spring 2028). The working group is looking for proposals that collapse clear subject and disciplinary distinctions, demonstrate a desire to allow different knowledge forms to meet, expand the thematic reach of the journal, and experiment with forms of writing and themes.

Eligibility:

  • Who: Editors and editorial teams with a strong competency in artistic research and contemporary relevant themes.
  • Editorial Independence & Responsibility: Editors are expected to operate independently on issues (in dialogue with the Editor-in-Chief and Coordinator) and are strictly responsible for communication with issue contributors.
  • Contractual Obligation: Editors must sign a publishing contract outlining expectations to deliver a complete issue, ready for publication, by the agreed-upon deadline. If editors cannot meet the deadline, the PARSE working group reserves the right to revise or cancel the agreement.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Budget: A discretionary budget will be made available to Editors for the development and delivery of the issue. (Note: This budget must be used strictly according to the rules and regulations of the University of Gothenburg).
  • Publication & Platform: The opportunity to shape and publish a full issue in a highly respected international artistic research platform.

Application Requirements:

Proposals will be assessed based on: novelty and contemporary relevance, alignment with PARSE, feasibility, and competency of the editorial team. The working group will make a shortlist and contact editors if further information is needed.
