Organizer Information

process*in is a contemporary literary and arts magazine that shifts the spotlight from the polished final product to the raw, often messy journey of creation. Based in Vienna, Austria, and supported by the City of Vienna (Stadt Wien Kultur), the magazine functions as a platform for experimental writing and multidisciplinary dialogue. The editorial team is dedicated to dismantling traditional notions of "standard language" and "standard publishing," prioritizing voices that are often underrepresented in the mainstream literary canon.

Title & Description

OPEN CALL – FRAGMENTE / FRAGMENTS
The latest issue, titled "FRAGMENTS," explores the concept of the incomplete. Derived from the Latin frangere (to break), the call asks: When is something complete? Must a form be broken to be fragmentary? The magazine seeks work that navigates leaps in time, simultaneities, and the ways in which isolated pieces strive for connection or community. Beyond the art itself, a core requirement is the submission of the "writing process"—the underlying traces, mistakes, and experiments that led to the final piece—which will be published alongside the work.

Additional Details

The "Process" aspect is not optional; it is a fundamental part of the magazine's identity. Do not hesitate to send "unpolished" materials—the editorial team specifically looks for the "breaks" and the "simultaneities" that standard magazines usually edit out. They love anything that falls away from "standard language" or "standard form."
