Short Description
The Laboratoire Modulaire at ésam Caen/Cherbourg (École Supérieure d’Arts & Médias de Caen/Cherbourg) invites applications for its 2025-2026 artistic research residency. The program explores spatialization in digital environments, including immersive environments, virtual/augmented reality, and hybrid spaces. The residency is dedicated to artists working on digital practices and technologies with a strong research focus.
Duration: Autumn 2025 – Autumn 2026 (minimum presence equivalent to eight weeks).
Program Goals:
Investigate the evolving relationship between digital devices and spatial design.
Develop new forms of interaction between physical, virtual, and hybrid spaces.
Engage with perceptual, aesthetic, and sociological dimensions of digital spatialization.
Expectations for Residents:
Conduct an independent research project aligned with Laboratoire Modulaire’s themes.
Present research publicly at the end of the residency.
Participate in meetings, events, and collaborations with invited artists, theorists, and researchers.
Optional pedagogical interventions (subject to a separate agreement).
Awards & Prizes:
€10,000 grant (includes remuneration, production costs, travel, and per diems).
Paid in two installments (two-thirds at the start, one-third)
Eligibility:
Open to artists and researchers working with digital practices and technologies.
Must have a strong research-oriented practice connected to the notion of spatialization.
