Co-founded by international cultural manager Sasiwimon Wongjarin (Aom) and cultural writer Claire Rosslyn Wilson, Studio 88 Artist Residency is a creative retreat and project space located in the rustic town of Doi Saket, 25 kilometers from Chiang Mai, Thailand. Studio 88 connects global creators with local Thai communities and ecosystems, providing a supportive environment for artistic experimentation, interdisciplinary research, and environmental dialogue.

Reviving Nature 2027 International Artist Residency and Festival: Open Call
Studio 88 has launched its open call for Reviving Nature 2027, an international artist residency and festival taking place between January 4 and March 28, 2027 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Centered on the mantra Play • Learn • Perform • Participate, the project explores how creative practice can inspire environmental awareness through curiosity, imagination, and shared experience rather than doom-focused narratives. The program invites artists across all disciplines to transform ecological learning into interactive playgrounds where audiences become active participants. Selected residents will have the opportunity to showcase their work during the Reviving Nature Festival 2027 in February and March.

Eligibility
- Demographic Scope: Open to emerging and established practitioners worldwide across all artistic and research disciplines.
- Residency Length: Stays range from 3 to 8 weeks (recommended stay of 4 weeks or longer).
- Project Status: Accepts proposal concepts, experimental starting questions, or developing works-in-progress.
Program Benefits & Support
- Workspace & Facilities: Individual/shared studio spaces, private bungalow accommodation with equipped kitchenettes, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, water, electricity, and cleaning service.
- Curatorial & Research Support: Pre-arrival research assistance, curated local studio visits, networking introductions within the Chiang Mai art scene, administrative guidance, and digital promotion.
- Festival Platform: Participation in the Reviving Nature Festival 2027 through public workshops, exhibitions, performances, talks, or open studio events.
- 1 Fully Funded Grant:One selected applicant will receive a 100% fee-waived residency placement.
Application Fee & Residency Costs

- Residency Program Costs (THB / Self-Funded Tiers):
- Individual Artist: 2 weeks: 40,000 THB (~€1,000 EUR) | 4 weeks: 60,000 THB | 8 weeks: 100,000 THB.
- Artist Duo / Assistant: 2 weeks: 36,000 THB/person | 4 weeks: 54,000 THB/person.
- Artist Group (3+ pax): 2 weeks: 34,000 THB/person | 4 weeks: 51,000 THB/person.
