The EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop (RBPMW) is a professional printmaking facility dedicated to supporting artists through access to printmaking resources, education, studio facilities, and community-based creative exchange. Located within the EFA Center in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, the workshop continues the legacy of master printmaker Robert Blackburn, who founded the Printmaking Workshop in 1948 as an inclusive space for artists to experiment, collaborate, and develop their printmaking practices.
As part of the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (EFA), the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop provides artists with access to professional equipment, technical expertise, classes, exhibitions, and a collaborative environment that encourages artistic exploration across disciplines.
The workshop supports artists at different stages of their careers and welcomes practitioners from diverse backgrounds and creative fields. Through programs, memberships, exhibitions, and educational initiatives, EFA RBPMW promotes printmaking as a dynamic medium for contemporary artistic expression.
The SIP Fellowship (Studio Immersion Project Fellowship) is designed to introduce artists from various disciplines to professional printmaking techniques while providing them with structured guidance, studio access, and opportunities for creative development.

SIP Fellowship 2027 – Studio Immersion Project Fellowship
The EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop invites artists to apply for the 2027 SIP Fellowship, an intensive fellowship program designed for artists interested in exploring printmaking as a new creative medium.
The fellowship welcomes artists working across disciplines who want to expand their artistic practice through print-based processes. Previous printmaking experience is not required. Artists are encouraged to apply their existing creative approaches, concepts, and artistic knowledge to techniques such as intaglio, lithography, screenprinting, relief printing, and monotype.
Selected Fellows receive access to a professional printmaking studio, educational workshops, technical support from EFA RBPMW staff, a financial stipend, and opportunities to exhibit their work.
The program provides an immersive introduction to printmaking while fostering experimentation, collaboration, and engagement with a community of artists.

Eligibility
The SIP Fellowship is open to artists who meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must be living and working in New York State.
- Applicants must not currently be affiliated with an educational institution as a full-time or part-time student.
- Applicants cannot participate in another residency program during the SIP Fellowship period.
- Applicants must not have received another fellowship from EFA RBPMW within the previous two years.
Additional information:
- Artists from all racial, gender, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Artists from any discipline are welcome.
- Previous printmaking experience is not required.
- Artists working in other media are strongly encouraged to apply and explore printmaking as an extension of their existing practice.
Selection is based on artistic merit through a blind jury process conducted by an independent four-person interdisciplinary panel of art professionals.
