Title & Description

2026 A-I-R Soft Data and Common Wares – Residency on ‘Hyperlocality’

Applications are open for two one-month artist residencies in Spring 2026 at the University of Washington. The 2026 theme ‘Hyperlocality’ explores data, networks, and technologies related to personal closeness, situated environments, off-cloud or off-grid experimentation, and context-based systems. The program seeks multidisciplinary projects that work with specific datasets, artifacts, materials, and interpretative processes.

Residents are expected to engage with the student community through an open studio and an artist talk, with a public showing of the work during the final week of the residency.
