As a centre for creation, Tabakalera has an international residency programme to support artists, creators, and cultural agents. This aid programme aims to support production processes and provide support on both a conceptual and production level.
With the aim of supporting research, creation, and professionalisation in the field of Art, Science, Technology, and Society in the Basque artistic scene, Tabakalera – International Centre for Contemporary Culture is launching the second edition of this residency programme. This time with the collaboration of Goethe-Institut Madrid and Sónar+D, the digital culture and creative technologies meeting of the Barcelona festival Sónar.
The programme offers travel and accommodation, medical insurance for those not based in Europe, a per diem of 1,000 EUR per month, a fee of 1,500 EUR, work space, technical assistance, curatorial support, and additional production support of up to 3,000 EUR (in consultation with Tabakalera).
Inscription must be submitted through the Tabakalera website by completing the online form and attaching the following documentation in the order set out below:
- Contact information: name, surname(s), postal address, email, and contact telephone number.
- An explanation of the project and the reason why the candidate wants to undertake this particular stage of the project during the residency at Tabakalera (between 500 and 1000 words).
- Graphic and other material that helps illustrate the work or project.
- Presentation of at least four works developed previously, with images of each one of them.
- A detailed approximate budget for the residency at Tabakalera and an estimate of everything needed for the project.
- A rough work timetable.
- A CV and short biography or history of the collective, whichever is appropriate (500 words).
All documentation must be submitted in one single PDF document (max. 10 MB and ten pages). The file name should be: surname_name_category; for example: martin_bilbao_art_science_technology_and_society.
All documentation must be submitted in Spanish, Basque, or English. Where Spanish or Basque is used, applicants must also attach a short summary in English. Otherwise, the panel of judges reserves the right to reject the project submitted.
