Temple Bar Gallery + Studios (TBG+S), in partnership with the Embassy of France in Ireland, Dublin City Council Arts Office, and the Embassy of Ireland, France, presents a new residency exchange between Dublin and Paris. The residency is hosted by Bétonsalon – centre for art and research, an institution integrated within the Université Paris Cité. Known for its leadership in feminist and decolonial positions, Bétonsalon focuses on artistic research at the intersection of social, racial, and environmental issues.

TBG+S and Bétonsalon Dublin/Paris International Residency Exchange 2026

This inaugural annual award supports a professional visual artist based in Dublin to spend two months focusing on research in Paris. The program offers a platform for artists to engage with the international art scene, build professional networks, and collaborate with a diverse community of researchers and practitioners. Residents will be based at the Couvent des Récollets, a historic center for artists and researchers in the 10th arrondissement. The exchange is designed to be a source of situated practice, generating new approaches to artistic research through curated support and institutional hospitality.

Eligibility

  • Open to professional practicing Visual Artists.
  • Location Requirement: Applicants must be living and/or working within the Dublin City Council administrative area.
  • Selection is based on the quality of work, recent activity, and the strength of the research proposal.
  • The residency welcomes artists representative of the diversity of Irish society across all backgrounds and characteristics.

Program Benefits and Awards

  • Stipend: A total grant of €5,000 to cover living and research expenses.
  • Accommodation: A furnished 40–60sqm living space at Couvent des Récollets, including a kitchen, sleeping area, and desk space.
  • Institutional Support: Guided research support and professional networking from the Bétonsalon curatorial team.
  • Accessibility: Accommodation suitable for those with mobility needs is available and can be arranged upon award.

Additional Details

At the start of the residency, the awarded artist will present their practice to the Bétonsalon team to facilitate tailored support. The residency is purely research-based, allowing the artist the freedom to explore the cultural landscape of Paris without the pressure of a final production output.
