Short Description

The Terre Commune International Prize is organized by Lieux-Communs and the Musée de la Faïence et de la Céramique of Malicorne-sur-Sarthe. Its goal is to promote and highlight contemporary ceramic practices within the field of contemporary art.

Located between Le Mans and Angers, in the heart of the Sarthe Valley (France), Malicorne has been renowned for its faience production for over 250 years. The Musée de la Faïence et de la Céramique, opened in 2001 and holding the “Musée de France” designation, is housed in a former 19th-century stoneware factory. It hosts a collection of both functional and artistic ceramic pieces.

Through its programming for individuals, families, schools, people with disabilities, and tourists, the museum is a hub for ceramic experimentation. It also actively supports contemporary creation by offering temporary exhibition spaces to ceramic artists.
