The Ordinary begins with a simple premise: being queer is ordinary.
Not invisible. Not assimilated. Not quietly tolerated. Ordinary — in the sense that it requires no justification, no performance, no special occasion. It is a fact of life, like any other.
This show brings together queer artists working across any subject, in any register. There is no requirement that the work address queerness directly. The artists in this exhibition are queer. That is enough. What they make from there is entirely their own.
We are interested in work that is serious and formally considered. Work made without apology or announcement. Work that simply exists — as its makers do.
