Overview
Founded in 2026 by artist, curator, and former strategy consultant Alex Z. Wang, Collective Z is a contemporary gallery and project space located at 325 Broome Street in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Transitioning from over a decade advising fashion and luxury brands to focusing on atmospheric abstraction, wearable art, and creative community building, Wang established Collective Z as part of a broader ecosystem operating at the intersection of fine art, fashion, and cultural experience (including initiatives such as Honesty Brutal).
Objectives
The gallery aims to hold space for personal, artistic, and cultural becoming by centering work that carries emotional, political, or formal heat and refuses to behave politely. Collective Z favors risk, experimentation, and rigor over market formulas, trend, or sameness, offering intentionally intimate curatorial attention, meticulous installation care, and sustained long-term relationships. Driven by the belief that art is not neutral—that it vibrates, moves, and demands attention—the organization seeks to champion creators who possess a clear point of view and the conviction to follow it during pivotal states of transition, tension, and growth.
