Organizer Information
The TNT Residency is a joint initiative co-run by Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York (TSA NY) and Transmitter Gallery, two artist-run, volunteer-operated contemporary art galleries situated within the prominent art hub at 1329 Willoughby Avenue in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Founded to cultivate community, artistic dialogue, and experimental practice, both organizations champion artist-centric programming, non-commercial production, and direct support for early-career and underrepresented creators.

Winter 2027 TNT Residency: Call for Visual Artists
Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York and Transmitter Gallery have announced the open call for the Winter 2027 TNT Residency. The program awards one professional artist a fully funded, 430-square-foot studio space adjacent to both galleries in Bushwick, Brooklyn, running for six months from January 9 to June 20, 2027. Designed to support works not always viable in traditional commercial art markets, the residency culminates in either a curated solo studio exhibition (June 5–20, 2027) or a public open-studio event. The resident recipient receives a $250 honorarium and professional exhibition documentation photography.

The call accepts All Visual & Fine Art Disciplines (Painting, Sculpture, Installation, Video/Media, Drawing, Performance, and Mixed Media).
Eligibility
- Professional Status: Open strictly to professional working artists. Currently enrolled students are ineligible.
- Geographic Scope: Open unconditionally to national (US) and international artists worldwide.
- Curatorial Focus: Prioritizes underrepresented artists and creators producing non-commercial or experimental works.
- Housing Restriction: Housing is NOT provided. Non-NYC residents must arrange their own off-site accommodations. Staying overnight or residing in the studio is strictly prohibited.
Program Benefits & Awards
- Studio Workspace: Fully funded private 430 sq ft studio space for 6 months (January 9 – June 20, 2027) at 1329 Willoughby Ave, Brooklyn.
- Exhibition Platform: Opportunity to mount a solo studio exhibition (June 5–20, 2027) or host a public open studio event.
- Financial Stipend: $250 USD honorarium for the exhibition.
- Documentation: Professional installation photography of the final exhibition/studio setup.
Application Fee
- Standard Application Fee: $35 USD (non-refundable; directly supports operating costs of the volunteer-run galleries).
