Organizer Information

Villa Filanda Antonini (VFA) is an artist residency in Lancenigo, Treviso, Italy, established in 2021. VFA is supported by the nonprofit Arper Feltrin Foundation, founded by the Feltrin family, creators of design company Arper. VFA's mission is to foster transdisciplinary dialogue among art, design, and architecture, and to support cultural initiatives that engage with contemporary art, creativity, place, and community.

Located in the historic Villa Filanda Antonini and its former industrial spaces from the 1880s and 1960s, VFA operates at the intersection of artistic research, social engagement, and territorial inquiry. Since 2021, Villa Filanda Antonini has hosted 20 artists from diverse disciplines, including visual arts, sound, performance, film, design, food, and ceramics. Projects developed during the residency engage directly with the site, addressing themes such as memory, identity, ecology, labor, and the transformation of post-industrial spaces. The Sonic Connections residency is funded through Culture Moves Europe, a mobility grant program for artists residing in eligible Creative Europe countries, fully funded by the European Union and implemented by the Goethe-Institut.

Title & Description

VFA Sonic Connections Residency 2027 — Open Call

VFA Sonic Connections is a fully funded one-month artist residency focused on experimental music, sound art, performance, and collective sonic experience. Up to four participants are selected to develop site-specific projects in response to the former industrial warehouse and silk mill spaces of Villa Filanda Antonini, engaging with the site's acoustic, architectural, and environmental conditions.

The residency encompasses research, production, open studios, listening sessions, live performance, and contribution to a sonic archive. Residents are expected to consider how architecture, acoustic space, landscape, and local context shape sonic creation, and to produce work — recorded material, performance, or archival material — that responds directly to VFA and its surroundings.
