Short Description

Nested in the heart of a dynamic city, Tirana Art Residency – Vila 31 – Art Explora aims to support
contemporary creation in all its forms, within a transdisciplinary and transgenerational
perspective.
Vila 31 runs a dynamic cultural programme in collaboration with local stakeholders, institutions,
schools, and associations, including exhibitions, workshops, film screenings, discussions, and
festivals open to all.

Eligibility

This residency program is open to artists and artist collectives, researchers, and curators of all nationalities, without age restrictions, who can demonstrate a minimum of five years of professional activity and have exhibited their works and research internationally.

Eligible artistic disciplines include: visual arts, performance arts, digital arts, art criticism, and curatorial practices.

Eligible research fields include: humanities, social sciences, sciences, technological innovation, and ecology.

Two residency programmes are offered:

  • SOLO Programme: Open to artists only
  • COLLECTIVE Programme: Open to collectives or duos of artists, researchers, and curators

For both programmes : three sessions of 3-months residencies.

If you are interested in the COLLECTIVE programme, only one application should be submitted by one of the collective members.

If you are interested in applying to multiple programmes, you must submit a separate application for each programme.

Submission Requirements

  1. A description of the artistic project or research that will be developed during the residency
    (general description, project steps, etc) : 2 pages max
    Please explain why being based in Albania is necessary for the development of your
    project (conceptual, geographical, practical, social links, etc)
  2. A portfolio of past projects relevant to the proposed project : 15 pages max
  3. A detailed resume : 2 pages max
  4. A description summarizing activities and workshops conducted with different types of
    public (associations, schools, etc.) : 1,500 characters max (including spaces)
