The Ville de Beausoleil (City of Beausoleil) is a vibrant municipality of 15,000 inhabitants located on the French Riviera, bordering the Principality of Monaco. Through its Direction des Affaires Culturelles, the city places artistic education and public engagement at the core of its cultural policy. Beausoleil fosters collaboration between artists, local communities, and institutions, supporting contemporary research and creation across disciplines. The Village Charlot, inaugurated in November 2025, is a dynamic cultural hub combining artist studios, creative workshops, exhibition spaces, a media library, FabLab, and community-driven spaces. It is designed to encourage artistic experimentation, interdisciplinary dialogue, and direct engagement between creators and audiences.

RÉSIDENCES DE CRÉATION – Village Charlot Artist Residency 2026–2027

This program offers artist residencies in Beausoleil, designed to support research, creation, and community engagement. The residencies provide immersive, flexible periods (3–6 months) for artists, authors, researchers, or collectives to explore contemporary practices while interacting with the local community, schools, and social organizations. Artists are encouraged to experiment, collaborate across disciplines, and produce work that may culminate in exhibitions, performances, installations, or educational activities for diverse audiences. The residencies are hosted in fully equipped studios at the Village Charlot and Atelier Tivoli 89, with access to co-living spaces and supportive infrastructure.

Eligibility

  • International and national artists, authors, researchers, or collectives.
  • Open to all disciplines, individually or collectively.
  • Specific residency formats:
    • Creation–Production: 1–2 artists
    • Research–Creation: 1–3 artists
    • Cross-disciplinary Residencies: 2–3 participants (artists + professionals)
  • Artists must be able to participate fully in the residency duration (Sept 2026 – Sept 2027).
  • No thematic restrictions; emphasis on contemporary practices, public engagement, and interdisciplinary approaches.

Program Benefits & Awards

  • Accommodation: Individual furnished apartments; co-living and shared facilities; one PMR-accessible unit; family-friendly options.
  • Studio Access: Equipped ateliers at Villa Émilie and Atelier Tivoli 89, including spaces for research, creation, exhibition, or scenography.
  • Financial Support:
    • Life stipend: €1,500/month per artist (proportional to residency duration)
    • Production budget:
      • Creation–Production: up to €15,000/project
      • Research–Creation: €2,000–3,000 per artist/project
    • Mediation/Transmission workshops: ~20 hours, €70/hour (~€1,400 per artist)
    • Presentation rights for exhibitions: €500–800
    • Installation & scenography: €2,500–3,500 depending on scope
    • Travel support: up to €300 per artist
  • Public Engagement: Participation in workshops, school programs, community mediation, and research presentations.
  • Visibility: Valorization through municipal and partner communication channels, as well as public exhibitions and events.
  • Technical & Logistical Support: Guidance from the Pôle Arts Plastiques team, access to equipment and materials, and assistance for production and mediation.

  2. Individual CVs (or collective presentation for teams).
  3. Project description:
    • Creation–Production: 3–5 pages detailing concept, content, objectives, schedule, and technical needs.
    • Research–Creation / Cross-disciplinary: 1-page note of intent outlining research goals, approach, and link to territory/publics.
  4. Artistic portfolio (max 10 pages).
  5. Preliminary residency schedule (research, creation, mediation, and restitution phases).
  6. Contact information and availability (Sept 2026 – Sept 2027).

  8. Civil liability insurance proof (if selected).
