Lo schermo dell’arte. VISIO is a research, residency, and production program curated by Leonardo Bigazzi, held as part of the Lo schermo dell’arte – Cinema and Contemporary Art Festival. Institutional partners include Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, Fondazione In Between Art Film, MACBA, and Human Company.

Applications are open for the VISIO – European Programme on Artists’ Moving Images.
This program invites 8 young European-based artists to Florence to develop original projects in dialogue with international curators and producers through mentoring sessions, round tables, and individual meetings. Out of the 8 participants, 3 artists will be awarded a major production fund to create works that will premiere at the 2027 Festival.

Eligibility:
- Who: Visual artists who work with moving images as part of their artistic practice and have a relevant number of solo and/or group exhibitions in the last 3 years.
- Geographic Rule: Applicants MUST be citizens or residents of one of the 46 member countries of the European Council + Kosovo.
- Age Limit: Applicants MUST be under 35 years old (born in 1991 or after).
- Duos & Collectives: In the case of an artist duo or collective, ALL members must meet the age and geographic requirements, AND the collective must have a documented collaborative practice of at least 3 years.
- Language: Excellent knowledge of the English language is required.
- Attendance: Selected artists MUST be able to attend the program in person, arriving in Florence on Tuesday, November 10th and leaving on Monday, November 16th, 2026.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- The Residency (8 Artists): Intensive networking, mentoring, and festival access in Florence. Travel expenses are reimbursed by Human Company.
- The VISIO Production Fund (3 Artists): Three artists will be awarded a €10,000 production budget each. One of these three artists will receive an additional €5,000 to further develop the project.
- Acquisition & Premiere: Produced works will world-premiere at Lo schermo dell’arte in November 2027. An artist’s edition of each work will be donated to the permanent collection of one of the partner institutions.

- Submission Format: Complete applications must be sent directly via email.
- Required Documents:
- Completed Application Form (including project description and answers to prompts).
- Production Budget (Annex A) detailing costs. (If the budget exceeds €10,000, economic contributions of other partners must be documented).
- Complete CV (PDF format).
- Portfolio with web links to previous full-length video works (PDF format).
- One portrait photograph (Min 300 dpi, JPG or TIFF).
