The Walking Arts & Local Communities (WALC) consortium is coordinated by the University of Western Macedonia (Greece), alongside international partners including walk · listen · create, Nau Côclea, Gigacircus, and others. It functions as a shared artistic and learning commons, establishing a new European Center for Research and Practice in Walking Arts.

Registration is open for the Walking Arts & Local Communities Modular Course.
Running from March to June 2026, this program approaches walking as a powerful artistic, social, ecological, and political practice. The course unfolds across four interconnected blocks:
- Foundations: Tracing the historical and conceptual genealogies of walking as an artistic medium and research method.
- Shared World-Making: Exploring community-based practices, social choreography, and collective memory.
- Critical Spatial Practice: Examining power, politics, and space through counter-mapping and situated critique.
- Digital Age: Investigating the intersection of embodiment and technology through locative media, sound walking, and networked collaboration.
Participants weave together theory and practice, culminating in the design of an original walking-based inquiry. Sessions are held online on Saturdays (9:30–12:30 CET), with recordings available for asynchronous learning.
