Overview
All About Curating is a Berlin-based, non-profit organization, decentralized global network, and curatorial platform founded by Bangladeshi-born curator, educator, and cultural strategist Mahzabin Haque. Originating in 2019 as a grassroots Facebook group titled “Curatorial Opportunities,” the initiative expanded into a community-driven web platform in 2024 with a Global Network representing over 5,700 artworkers across 38+ countries, outreach spanning more than 154 countries, and collaborations with 50+ cultural institutions in Berlin. Operating under an ethos of horizontality, collective knowledge production, and humane practice, AAC works through an advisory board and a global circle of volunteers known as “AAC Ambassadors.”
Objectives
AAC’s mission is to decentralize and democratize contemporary curatorial knowledge, education, professional development, and international networking. By framing curatorial knowledge as shared infrastructure rather than guarded or opaque terrain, the organization seeks to dismantle individualistic and hierarchical barriers in the art world. AAC aims to create accessible, unmediated, and horizontal channels for exchange between art workers, local institutions, and global publics—with a dedicated commitment to creating opportunities for diverse and underrepresented perspectives from the Global Majority.
Programs / Opportunities
- AAC Global Network & Ambassador Circles: An international membership network and volunteer-led cohort structure facilitating shared decision-making, mutual support, and global curatorial knowledge exchange.
- Ask A Curator (Online): A free, highly selective monthly program offering 60-minute, one-on-one virtual consultations with experienced curators for critical feedback on projects, proposals, or career questions (held on the last Friday of every month).
- Creative Synergies (Online): An 8-week intensive virtual mentorship and residency program for artists, curators, researchers, and cultural entrepreneurs to develop an idea into a clear conceptual framework, culminating in a public closing virtual symposium.
- Art Intensive Berlin (On-Site): A 4-week in-person program in Berlin providing international artworkers with unmediated institutional access, mentorship, weekly reflection sessions, funding workshops, an annual museum pass, and a closing public symposium.
- Research to Resonance (On-Site): A 3-month in-person research, development, and production program in Berlin for artists and curators, culminating in a curated public exhibition.
- AAC Talks & AAC Symposium: A virtual conversation series highlighting community-oriented (human and more-than-human) relational practices, alongside an annual in-person curatorial symposium in Berlin addressing urgent contemporary discourse.
