Argo Arts

Overview

Argo Arts is an independent, artist-run project space and residency program based in the Exarcheia neighborhood in central Athens, Greece. The organization operates a main project space alongside the Argo Annex—a multi-use creative laboratory dedicated to site-specific installations, performances, exhibitions, and public events. The residency ecosystem accommodates up to seven artists at a time across shared and private studios equipped with basic material supplies, a woodshop, a research library, communal spaces, and nearby shared apartments.

Mission

Argo Arts aims to support contemporary emerging and established creative practitioners from Greece and abroad by providing time, space, and a collaborative environment to develop experimental work. Grounded in dialogue with the local Athens art scene, the organization strives to facilitate horizontal skill-sharing, personalized research recommendations, and community engagement. Argo Arts seeks to eliminate institutional barriers by creating an inclusive space where diverse, interdisciplinary practices can flourish.

Programs / Opportunities

• Self-Directed Residencies: Autonomous 25-day residential stays providing accommodation (private or shared rooms), studio workspace (private or shared), woodshop access, library facilities, and personalized local research support.
• Themed Residencies: Curated group residencies (typically 3 to 5 weeks) bringing together cohorts of creatives around shared conceptual interests to foster collaborative production and exchange.
• Argo Annex Programming: A public project space hosting site-specific exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, lectures, film screenings, poetry readings, and performances.
• Educational Courses & Masterclasses: Hands-on skill-building courses led by experienced international artists, offering included lodging, studio space, and creative community access.
