Argo Arts is an independent creative incubator and residency organization based in Athens, Greece. Located in the vibrant, culturally active neighborhood of Kypseli, Argo provides artists, writers, scholars, and performers with studio spaces (Argo Studios), accommodation ("To Spiti"), and curatorial networking designed to foster independent process-oriented research within a supportive local community.

Final Spaces! November–December 2026 Self-Directed Residencies for Artists and Writers in Athens, Greece

Argo Arts has announced an immediate open call for the final remaining spaces across its upcoming November and December 2026 Self-directed Residency Sessions in Athens. Designed to offer creative practitioners time, space, and local integration without the pressure of producing a finished product, the residency emphasizes creative process, cross-disciplinary exchange, and personal research. Residents benefit from dedicated studio space at Argo Studios, community housing in Kypseli, neighborhood gallery tours, day trips, and monthly Open Studio public presentations.

Program Sessions & Dates

Applicants may apply for one or both of the upcoming 2026 sessions (or reserve early 2027 slots):

  • November Session 2026 (4 Weeks / 25 Days): November 2 – November 27, 2026
  • December Session 2026 (3 Weeks / 18 Days): November 30 – December 18, 2026

The residency accommodates Painting, Drawing, Writing & Literature, Research & Humanities, Performance, Sculpture, Dance, Music, Film/Video, and Textile Craft.

Eligibility

  • Demographic Scope: Open to visual creators, writers, performers, academics, dancers, and interdisciplinary practitioners of all nationalities worldwide.
  • Age & Experience: Open to anyone 18 years of age or older (from emerging talents to well-established scholars and senior artists).

Program Features & Facilities

  • Kypseli Accommodation ("To Spiti"): Shared apartment in Kypseli featuring quiet study/writing rooms, shared kitchen, living room, two bathrooms, and large balconies.
  • Studio Workspace (Argo Studios): Dedicated studio setups with natural light, tables, easels, lamps, storage, and private/shared options located 20 minutes from accommodation through Pedion Tou Areos park.
  • Equipment & Tools: On-site woodshop with hand/power tools, AV equipment (TVs, microphones, amplifiers), and custom arrangements for local rehearsal spaces.
  • Curatorial & Cultural Access: Personalized introductions to Athenian curators, galleries, and artisans; weekly shared meals; guided gallery tours; archaeological day trips; and optional monthly Open Studios.

Pricing Tiers & Fees

Program costs include accommodation, studio access, utility bills, research support, and event participation (travel, food, and art supplies excluded; food budget ~€100–€300/week recommended):

  • November 2026 Session (Nov 2 – Nov 27):
    • Shared Room:€1,200 EUR total (~€300/week)
    • Private Room:€1,560 EUR total (~€390/week)
    • Deluxe Room (En-suite):€1,920 EUR total (~€480/week)
  • December 2026 Session (Nov 30 – Dec 18):
    • Shared Room:€900 EUR total (~€300/week)
    • Private Room:€1,170 EUR total (~€390/week)
