Description & Background
Equisoain Art Residency is a living eco-laboratory and cultural initiative founded by artists and curators Eliana Perinat and Lívia Diniz. Located in Navarra, Spain, under the shadow of Mount La Higa, Equisoain operates in collaboration with LABEA (Laboratorio de Arte, Ciencia y Naturaleza), the international Eternal Forest network, and Asociación Despierta. Rooted in ecological thought, somatic practice, and interspecies co-creation, the platform invites artists to move beyond treating nature as a passive subject, framing the forest and its ecosystems as active co-authors of contemporary creative research.
Objectives
The ecosystem aims to invite artists whose practices engage in direct dialogue with nature, natural materials, ecosystems, or land-based processes, allowing the physical environment to genuinely shape their work in method, material, and rhythm. Grounded in principles of connection, regeneration, collective care, and ecological stewardship, Equisoain seeks to safeguard the land for future generations through biodynamic practices, animal welfare, and eco-friendly infrastructure. The organization uses culture, science, and art as tools for societal and environmental transformation, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and supporting creation that moves beyond traditional studio boundaries.
