Equisoain

Equisoain is an ecosystem held by La Higa mountain, with a bio-restored 14th-century tower house in Navarra, northern Spain. The name draws from Basque-Navarrese roots: Eki (sun, new dawn) and Soain (place of) — a place of new beginnings.

Space · Time · Matter : Equisoain Residency programme invites artists whose practices are in dialogue with nature, natural materials, ecosystems, or land-based processes. An invitation to let the place genuinely shape the work, in method, material, and rhythm.

An artist-run, interdependent organism set within 400 hectares of managed forest, meadow, and stream, sustained by solar energy and rainwater, it includes a 119 m² shared indoor studio, an outdoor deck and meadow workspace, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and 3 shared kitchens. The programme is built around streams:

Presence Alive (Mentoring & Body Nature Practice, Forest walks)
Moving Matters (audiovisual, sound, and rhythmic work in dialogue with the non-human)
Matter Memories (natural pigments, dyes, clays, and land-derived materials)

Artists work alongside visual artist and art therapist Eliana Perinat, interdisciplinary artist, curator and project designer Lívia Diniz, and Labea – art, science and nature laboratory’s creative direction team with Eduardo Bonito and Isabel Ferreira — in a programme that balances structure with genuine open time.
