Overview
Founded in 2015 and curated by Vertov Project under the artistic direction of Francesca Leoni and Davide Mastrangelo, Ibrida Festival is an international festival of intermedial arts based in Forlì, Italy. Growing out of its initial event, Re/Azione, the multi-day festival takes place across key cultural venues in Forlì—including the Candle Factory (Fabbrica delle Candele), Musei San Domenico, and EXATR. The platform focuses on the investigation, dissemination, and showcase of recent productions and research within experimental audiovisual formats, performance art, and electronic music.
Objectives
Ibrida Festival aims to investigate and promote contemporary audiovisual research while exploring how artists use media, software, and technology to express new perceptual realities. Grounded in a philosophical critique of the “society of the spectacle” and virtual simulation, the festival seeks to liberate the artistic imagination from strict categorical boundaries. By bridging human relationships, technology, and intermedial experimentation, Ibrida strives to create a platform where artists act as active protagonists—inventing new worlds, presenting visionary alternatives, and challenging media clichés.
