1646 – ReCNTR fully funded art Residency 2026
This open call invites international artists to participate in a two-month fully funded residency in The Hague. Artists are encouraged to investigate social and political issues through process-driven, experimental practices using strategies such as fictioning, complicating, and humor. The residency prioritizes research, experimentation, and collaboration over final exhibition outcomes. Residents will engage in studio work, public events, and educational activities, including workshops and guest lectures at Leiden University.

Program Benefits & Awards
- Two-month residency (September – October 2026)
- Artist fee: €2,000 (excluding VAT)
- Production budget: €1,000 (excluding VAT)
- Studio space: 5 x 3m inside 1646, with access to technical equipment and workshop facilities
- Accommodation: Small studio apartment in 1646 with shared kitchen and bathroom; family members can join
- Travel reimbursement: Up to €750 per artist (partners/children not included)
- Engagement with Leiden University students through workshops and guest lectures
- Three structured studio visits with feedback from curatorial teams and researchers
- Networking and integration into 1646 and ReCNTR’s community of artists, professionals, and academics
