Organizer Information:

The A4 Residency Art Center, located in Luxelakes, Chengdu, is an independent, non-profit cultural institution. Originally launched in 2011 as part of the A4 Art Museum’s strategy, it transitioned in 2023 into a more independent, multidisciplinary platform focused on community engagement and social mission. Since its inception, it has collaborated with 335 creators from over 44 countries.

This platform embraces "residency" as a method and perspective to integrate diverse creative resources across communities and international borders. It serves as an "experimental field" where architectural design, water management, and social practice intersect. The program encourages residents to move beyond traditional production-driven models to focus on "discovery" and the process of "happening" within the local context of Chengdu.

The residency caters to a vast range of disciplines including Visual Art, Sculpture, Ceramics, Dance, Theatre, Performing Arts, Music, Literature, New Media, Film-making, Architecture, Curatorial, and Science.

Eligibility

  • Target: Creators from various humanities and scientific fields, including scientists, scholars, poets, and designers.
  • Professional Interest: Individuals interested in community engagement and local artistic creation.
  • Commitment: Residents must commit to a minimum of 8 weeks.
