AiR 351. An independent international visual arts residency program located in Cascais (Lisbon region), Portugal. The team provides curatorial and technical assistance, regular studio visits, and networking opportunities within the local art scene.

Applications are open for the AiR 351 Grants & FLAD Grant 2026.

This year, the organization is launching 4 fully funded grants across two distinct tracks. The program includes access to an individual studio and communal spaces at AiR 351’s headquarters, alongside deep integration into the local artistic community.

Eligibility:

  • General Exclusions: Current or past residents of AiR 351 are strictly NOT eligible to apply. Additionally, candidates must not be enrolled in another residency or academic program during the residency period.
  • Language Requirement: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Track 1: AiR 351 Grants (3 Available): Targeted exclusively for artists and curators who are NOT based in Portugal, at any stage of their practice.
  • Track 2: FLAD Grant (1 Available): Targeted exclusively for a US-based / American artist or curator at any stage of their practice.
  • Visas: Candidates are strictly responsible for their own VISA applications and should plan accordingly prior to departure.

Program Benefits & Awards:

(Note: For both tracks, the provided allowances must cover all living expenses, including accommodation and health/accident insurance. Finding accommodation is the resident's responsibility, though AiR 351 will assist. Residency fees to AiR 351 are fully waived for grant recipients).

  • Track 1 (AiR 351 Grants): A €1,500 monthly allowance for a total period of 3 months, plus €500 in travel support.
  • Track 2 (FLAD Grant): A €1,600 monthly allowance for a total period of 4 months, plus €600 in travel support.

  • File Formatting: All application materials MUST be combined into 1 single PDF document that does not exceed 10MB in total. Only digital material is accepted.
  • Language: All applications (including recommendation letters) MUST be written in English.
  • Required Contents:

    2. Letter of motivation (brief description of current practice, intent, and goals of the residency – Maximum 500 words).
    3. Curriculum Vitae.
    4. Portfolio.
    5. Optional: Up to 3 letters of recommendation.
