Short Description
The Arts and Disability Connect scheme is designed to support artists with disabilities to be ambitious, to develop their practice and to connect with arts organisations and arts professionals in the Republic of Ireland.
What are the aims and objectives of Arts and Disability Connect?
The scheme aims to support artists with disabilities to develop their practice and to connect with the wider arts sector in the Republic of Ireland. It does this by offering artists with disabilities an opportunity to:
- make a change in their practice
- ‘step up’ in terms of scope and scale
- engage in new learning experiences
- develop new working relationships
- buy time to research and develop work
- make and present new work to audiences.
Eligibility
Individual artists working in the following areas can apply:
- Architecture
- Circus
- Dance
- Film
- Literature
- Music
- Opera
- Street arts and spectacle
- Theatre
- Traditional arts
- Visual arts
Submission Requirements
- A completed application form with your signature (.doc, .docx, not as a pdf)
- Your arts practice CV
- Trainer’s CV or short bio
- A letter or email from the training provider/s confirming your place for the training if you are successful
- A separate document detailing personal access costs, if they are needed
- Examples of your previous work:
- Images (max. 10)
- Texts (max. 5 pages)
- Video / film work (max. 3 files or links preferably not longer than 5 minutes each)
- Audio (max. 3 files or links, preferably not longer than 5 minutes each)

- Text files – .doc or.docx

- Sound files – .mp3
- Video files – .mp4
- Adobe Acrobat Reader files – .pdf

Program Benefits & Awards
- Training
You can apply for up to €1,000. For artists who want to engage in professional development and other learning opportunities. - Mentoring
You can apply for up to €3,000. For artists who wish to engage in mentoring opportunities with professionals in their artforms. - Research and Reflection
You can apply for up to €5,000. For artists who want time and resources to think, research, reflect and critically engage with their practice. This award can also be used to develop new relationships with partners to submit a New Work application in the future or to develop other strategic partnerships. - New Work
- You can apply for up to €15,000. For artists with a strong track record in their professional practice who want to develop, make and present ambitious new work to an audience with the support of a presenting partner. Presenting partners can include arts centres, arts festivals, arts organisations and arts venues in the Republic of Ireland. There is one New Work award available in Round One in 2025.
